Monaco Words of Wisdom: Thierry Boutsen

Thierry Boutsen is best known as a champion car racer. He had a long career behind the wheel, driving Formula One, European Touring , and World Sportscars. In Formula One, he drove for Benetton, mounting the podium six times, and with Williams, when he won both the 1989 Canadian and Australian Grand Prix. In 1990, he took pole position and 1st place at the Hungarian Grand Prix. From 1993 – 1996 Thierry placed successfully on the podium each year at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, eventually winning 1st place in 1996 with a GT1 Porsche. Today, he runs Boutsen Aviation, a Monaco based, airplane sales company he started 20 years ago with his wife, Daniela. They have sold 340 planes, from Airbus corporate jets to small Cessnas. After cars, Thierry’s passion for airplanes is only equalled by his passion for life and his love for his wife. Thierry sat down with Olga Taran (editor of HelloMonaco) to talk about passion, harmony, meeting the love of his life, and how a devastating accident taught him to enjoy every moment.
