1. Four yachts damaged and six more destroyed at Port Forum Barcelona

A major fire broke out in Barcelona’s Port Forum, on April 9 around 7:15 am, Naucher Global reports. The origin of the blaze is still unknown but it is confirmed that it started on one yacht and then quickly spread to nearby vessels.

 

After firefighters extinguished the flames, another fire broke out at 3 pm for reasons still to be confirmed. 2.5 hours later the second fire was put out. According to several Spanish newspapers, the fire has affected 10 yachts in total measuring between 19 and 23m LOA.

2. One person dead and another injured as marina catches fire in Marmaris, Turkey

 

On Monday April 10 at 4:30 am, a fire broke out in a marina in the Aegean province of Muğla, the Hurriyet Daily reports. The flames engulfed the marina resulting in destruction of three yachts: White Layd, Cartano and Passion.

Fire crew officials stated that a man, Ekrem Gökçe, 63, died in the fire on the Cartano yacht. Another man, Türker Demir, was wounded on the same yacht and was taken to hospital.

3. 85m Areti launched by Lurssen

 

The 85-meter Areti, formerly known as Project Sasha during her build, has now been launched by Lürssen ahead of her delivery planned for this summer.

Designed throughout by Winch Design, Areti features a large master suite with 8 additional guest suites. Amongst her amenities are an extensive spa area featuring a sauna, a hammam, a jacuzzi and a plunge pool located near to Areti’s beach club.

4. 62m superyacht under construction at CRN

 

CRN has unveiled details about hull number 137, currently under construction at the Italian shipyard. The new yacht has been engineered by Ancona-based Technical Department, complimented by Nuvolari Lenard, who took care of exterior concept and interior design.

The new vessel features 5 decks and includes the Owner’s stateroom and 5 VIP cabins, hosting up to 12 guests. It will be equipped with two MTU 12V4000 M63 1500 Kw @1800 RPM engines that will push it to a maximum speed of 16 knots.

5. Ferretti Group posts profits for the first time since 2008

 

Ferretti Group, the Italy-based holding behind brands such as Riva, Pershing and of course Ferretti itself, has indicated it made €14,1 million in net profit in 2016 making it the first year since the financial crisis of 2008 where the group posted a profit.
