One of the fastest yacht ever built
Built by Spanish yard Izar, 41.51-metre Foners was launched back in 2000. It was gifted by a group of businesses on the Balearic islands for the King of Spain – Juan Carlos I and his family, where the royal family has their summer palace and spent several weeks a year on holiday.
Originally named “Fortuna”, she was built for maximum speed, as the head of Izar yard described her as formula one prototype on the water. The yacht is powered by twin 1,280hp MAN engines and triple Rolls Royce 6,700hp gas turbines with three Kamewa water jets. With a total horse power of 22,660hp Foners can reach a top speed of 70 knots (129 km/h).
50-metre motorsailer Meira launched
The Turkish yard Neta Marine has launched their 50-metre motorsailer yacht Meira. Evan K Marshall was responsible for interior and exterior design and Fuat Turan for the naval architecture. Interior is fitted with ebony and Aningeria, leather, marble and walnut on the floor. Accommodation on board is for 12 guests in 6 staterooms – a master’s cabin, with two bathrooms, 3 doubles and 2 twins. The crew quarters is up to 11 people. On deck amenities include a Jacuzzi, plus four other sunbathing spots, skylounge bar, massage room and sauna. All cabins are fitted with satellite TVs by Samsung.
Man killed in Miami Beach boat incident
A 25 year-old charter guest onboard the 91ft yacht, Miami Vice was killed after being struck by the yacht’s propeller. At the time of the accident, a total of 7 guests were onboard and the yacht was being operated by a crew of 2.

49-metre Benetti yacht Elaldrea+ launched
The Italian yard Benetti has launched 49-metre custom yacht previously known as Project Zafiro, which was christened Elaldrea+ by her experienced owner at Viareggio shipyard. Project Zafiro was sold for her owners in September 2015.
Built from a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, this super yacht has a 9.1-metre beam and a maximum draught of 2.45-metres. Exterior and interior design is a result of the collaboration between Horacio Bozzo Design and Benetti Style Department. The design can be described as minimalistic, with pure lines and prevailing functionality.
