Danish designer, Isabell Kristensen, owns a boutique in Monaco-Ville that features exclusive and luxurious evening and cocktail dresses. This summer, she presented her new collection on the Monaco Heliport tarmac.
It would be wrong to call Isabell just a Danish designer. She’s also a mother of four, a former model, and she spent many years in London where she opened her very first boutique. After that, Isabell chose the tiny Principality, just on the border with France, to open another eveningwear boutique. And all the magic of creating these stunning fashion pieces happens right in her shop, on the lower floor.
The dresses from her collections are one of a kind and discerning fashionistas can choose their own color and fabric to suit their taste. You basically get a dress made to order. “The main thing for me is to emphasize the femininity and individuality of my clients who want to stand out and differ from others,” confides Isabell.
Gowns by Isabell Kristensen can be seen on the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival, Formula 1 parties and many other major events. Her gowns have been proudly worn by Nicole Kidman, Paris Hilton, Kate Winslet, Katy Perry, and Liza Minnelli. Naturally, Princess Charlene could not help but showing an interest in the brand.
“When I saw Princess Charlene in my boutique, she was trying on one of the dresses,” recalls Isabell. “I went up to her and said: ‘I really like your dress!’ We both laughed, and, probably, that’s how our friendship started.”
Their friendship only strengthened when the future princess of Monaco asked Isabell to be one of her bridesmaids. The designer now has a special relationship with Monaco.
Maybe that is why Isabell Kristensen chose the Heliport to present her collection for every occasion. “The Cote d’Azur inspired me for this collection,” said the designer. “I wanted to make luxurious outfits which would be comfortable for moving and dancing.”
