For the many people this weekend will revolve around Easter Sunday, one of the most festive events among Christians worldwide, for others it will be marked by the starts of the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters 2017, either way it is going to be very interesting.
Easter holiday in the Christian world commemorates Jesus Christ’s resurrection from death, as written in the Christian bible.
Many Christians worldwide celebrate Easter with special church services, music, candlelight, flowers and the ringing of church bells. Among traditions are Easter eggs and the Easter Bunny, both fertility symbols, holdovers from the feast of Eostara. But it is also quite an athletic weekend. Hope you didn’t forget that Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters 2017 and will run till April 23. In case you haven’t heard about it yet, the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters is one of the biggest annual tennis tournaments for male professional players. The event, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2006, is the first of three ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments played on clay at the Monte-Carlo Country Club. The tournament is a player and fan favourite due to its magnificent location and long tradition of champions. Spain’s Rafael Nadal won an Open Era record eight successive title there between 2005-2012.
On Saturday 15th April, after the 1st match of the day, a charity exhibition match will take place on Court Rainier III with the exceptional participation of Novak Djokovic, Marin Cilic and Alexander Zverev.
It will be organised in aid of Amade Mondiale Monaco, presided over by Her Royal Highness, Princess Caroline of Hanover. You can book your tickets here.
Also this weekend there will be a football match between AS Monaco and Dijon FCO in French League 1, Day 33 on Saturday 15 April at 21.00, Stade Louis II. After the victory of AS Monaco in the game against Dortmund Borussia postponed because of an attack, this home game is not to be missed.
This weekend our support goes to the Roca Team as well, they are playing out of town in PRO A Basketball Championship against Elan on Saturday 15 April at 8.00 p.m.
An interesting event is organised by the Monte-Carlo Opera this weekend: Public Open Day — Rehearsal for stage and orchestra of “Il Trovatore” by Giuseppe Verdi, on Saturday 15 April, from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm Opéra de Monte-Carlo – Salle Garnier.
And don’t forget that there are some other interesting exhibitions and exhibition sections currently open, if you haven’t been there yet, this weekend is good time to go there: Exhibition on the subject of “Hercule Florence. The New Robinson” in Nouveau Musée National – Villa Paloma; Exhibition of stringed instruments; Exhibition of artworks by Bernard Conforti; and the Night Dive in Search of Fluorescent Corals in the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco, to name a few.
