Weekend in Monaco with #hello_monaco

With the Monte-Carlo Spring Arts Festival 2017 half way through, the Principality is filled with musical events, especially interesting ones on the weekend. Let us tell you all about it!

As part of the Monte-Carlo Spring Arts Festival (“Printemps des Arts”) and the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra’s Great Season Series on Saturday 25 March, at 8.30 pm Auditorium Rainier III – Salle Yakov Kreizberg you can enjoy a symphonic concert. There will be two parts with Ludwig Van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Bohuslav Martinu and György Ligeti on the programme. Tickets range from €17 to €34.

Another concert by the Sahak-Mesrop Choir in aid of Christians of the East, organised by the Union of Armenians of Monaco on Saturday 25 March, at 7.30 pm Eglise Saint-Charles.

And those lucky who followed our Calendar and got tickets in advance will be able to enjoy one of true opera master pieces: “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” by Gioachino Rossini with Dmitry Korchak, Bruno de Simone, Annalisa Stroppa, Mario Cassi, Marco Vinco, Annunziata Vestri, Gabriele Ribis, Enzo Iorio, the Chorus of the Monte-Carlo and the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Corrado Rovaris, organized by the Monte-Carlo Opera on Sunday 26 March, at 3 pm, Tuesday 28 and Thursday 30 March, at 8 pm Opéra de Monte-Carlo – Salle Garnier.

On Sunday March 26 at 7.30 pm Frank Turner will perform in Espace Leo Ferre. This thirty year old armed with an acoustic guitar meets the punk crowd and produces heartbreaking folk songs, filled with political assertions and especially pure love. For his fourth solo album England keep my bones the most punk of the folk remains faithful to the recipe of his success: a dose of folk, punk and above all, the instrument that he knows best: his voice. And again, Turner succeeds in combining punk rage with the acoustic softness of folk, on catchy tracks like his new single “If ever I stray” which we bet you will take back the refrain. With Forest Pooky and Sam Duckworth in the first part. Tickets are at €15.

On Sunday 26 March, at 6 pm there is another Monte-Carlo Spring Arts Festival (“Printemps des Arts”) event: Piano Concept III — Recital by Bruno Leonardo Gelber. On the programme: Ludwig van Beethoven at the Yacht Club de Monaco.

There are a few sports events this weekend. Unfortunately the basketball match Hyeres-Toulon against AS Monaco in PRO A Basketball Championship on Saturday 25 March at 6.30 pm, is out of town:  in Toulon.

But to make up for that there is Monaco Cycling Criterium – Paco Alonso Trophy, organised by the Monegasque Cycling Federation on Sunday 26 March, Port Hercule of Monaco that you can not only observe but also to participate. The Monaco Criterium consists of various races (one per category) that take place on a part of the F1 circuit in the Port Hercule of Monaco.

An interesting event for all the book lovers is on Sunday 26th – Saturday 25 March 2017: the 6th Monaco Book Fair will take place at the Le Meridien Beach Plaza Monte-Carlo, Room Atlantic organized by the Association “Les Rencontres Littéraires Fabian Boisson”. The fair will be held under the High Patronage of S.A.S. Prince Albert II. As part of the 6th Monaco Book Fair on Saturday 25 March 2017 at 6:30 pm there will be a Conference by Mr. Jean-Louis DEBRE “The Republic of France”. Entrance fee is 12,00 euros on Saturday and free on Sunday.

If you like to laugh check out Les Sérénissimes de l’Humour 2017 Comedy Festival organised by Monaco Live Productions in partnership with Rire et Chansons in support of AMADE Monaco, under the High Patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II on 22-25 March, at 8 pm Grimaldi Forum Monaco. Tickets are available at flat rate of €45.

Théâtre des Muses this weekend welcomes both adults and children. For the younger audience they prepared The Grasshopper and the Ant (“La cigale et la fourmi”) by and with Y. Henneguelle on Saturday 25 March, at 2.30 pm and 4.30 pm.

Dodo and Rémi are two slightly crazy friends who have only one dream: to become the new rock stars. Tonight, they give one of their famous concerts… Except that the public did not come to listen to rock, but to attend a show on the fables of Jean de la Fontaine! Problem: they do not even know who it is… The new Rock’n’Roll stars will make you (re)discover the fables with humor, energy! Tickets range from €14 to €16.

And for adults there isKamikaze Improvisation” by and with Eric Metayer and Elrik Thomas on Friday 24 March, at 8.30 pm, Saturday 25 March, at 9 pm and Sunday 26 March, at 4.30 pm.

In “Kamikaze”, nothing retains you, no strings attached. We must react without reflection, the idea must spring forth in the moment. No code but that of the unbridled imagination of the actors. One improvises on a word, the title of a book, a music, an object… You will be asked to bring an unusual object that will be confiscated for use during the performance. Tickets range from €18 to €29.

And don’t forget that there are several interesting exhibitions and exhibition sections are currently open: Exhibition on the subject of “Hercule Florence. The New Robinson” in Nouveau Musée National – Villa Paloma; Intimate Folon – on the Quai Antoine-1er, where the Belgian artist worked until his death in 2005; Exhibition of photos of the Royal Ballet of Cambodia by Alain Hanel at Carrefour Monaco; and the Night Dive in Search of Fluorescent Corals in the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco, to name a few.

Have a great weekend!
