Looks like this weekend in Monaco is all about sports. There are matches, skiing competitions, a horse race, but there is so much more to the weekend and we’ll tell you all about it.
On Saturday 25 February at 6.30 pm Stade Louis II is a place to be for supporters of Roca Team, as AS Monaco and Le Mans Sarthe Basket are playing in PRO A Basketball Championship (Salle Omnisports Gaston Médecin).
And football fans this weekend can enjoy a match between AS MONACO and EN AVANT GUINGAMP, that will play in French League 1, Day 27 on Saturday 25 February at 5 pm; unfortunately for AS Monaco fans it’s not a home game so you’ll have to travel to Stade du Roudourou, Guingamp or watch it on TV.
A very different event will be unfolding on Saturday at the Hippodrome of Cagnes-sur-Mer: there will be launched Princess Charlène of Monaco First French “Charity Mile”, a horse race for the benefit of animal protection associations. As on the Vaal race course in South Africa, each horse will run for a specific charity association, and the collected amount will be paid to them in order of their arrival. Their total amount could be about $300,000 and they will be given to animal charities.
And one more place to be on Saturday is the Stade Nautique Rainier III – Patinoire Municipale. There at 5 pm will start Monaco Skating Championship. It will be open to the public for free.
But Saturday is not over yet. It is the last day of the Nice Carnaval: King of Energy. For the closing day the organizers prepared a Flower Parade at 2:30 pm and Carnival Parade of lights and burning of the King – Place Masséna at 9:00 pm. And don’t forget that the Lemon Festival in Menton is on for just a few more days. The Gardens of Lights is scheduled for Friday 24th February at 8.30pm and on Sunday 26th February at 2.30pm there will be a Golden Fruit Parade.
