This weekend in Monaco is reach in events both sports and theatrical.
You probably already know that this week started the 41st International Circus Festival, that will last all the way till January 29. It is the greatest circus festival in the world. Created by HSH Prince Rainier III, this festival brings together the most prestigious acts from the world’s great circuses. And this year we recommend to pay special attention to the performances with animals of two great families: the Zapachny family from Russia and the Frank-Kröplin family from Germany. This Saturday on January 21 from 3 pm to 4 pm in Espace Fontvieille there will be an “Open Door Circus Show” featuring animal rehearsals with commentaries. There are also two exhibitions related to the festival “Long Live the Circus”, Exhibition of Paintings by Igor Akimov in Riviera Marriott Hotel and “Recreation”, Exhibition of Paintings and Circus items by Petit Gougou in Hôtel Columbus.
Also this weekend there will be a football match between AS MONACO and FC LORIENT in French League 1, Day 21, Stade Louis II on Saturday 22 January at 15.00 and a basketball match between AS Monaco and Limoges are playing in PRO A Basketball Championship on Saturday 21 January at 8.00 pm.
6th Monaco Boxing Challenge (amateur and pro fights), unique and ambitious Boxing Gala concept, organised by ASM Boxing on Saturday 21 January, at 7 pm in Espace Léo Ferré. The Monegasque Boxing Federation has wished to set up with the Sports Association of Monaco. These galas are intended to offer to the public of the Rock evenings that are out of the ordinary.
For the 4th consecutive year, model car enthusiasts can take part in sessions for electric radio-controlled cars on the open-air skating rink, organised by Monaco City Hall, in partnership with the Monegasque Model Vehicles Federation and the MC Clic company. Participants are invited to bring their own vehicle to the skating rink. This Sunday 22 January, from 8 am to 12 pm Port de Monaco the rink will be transformed into a racing track on ice for the occasion. Admission is free.
And to diversify your leisure there is a play Firefighters in Theater des Muses on January 20 at 8.30 pm, January 21 at 9 pm and January 22 at 4.30. It’s a story of a bit “limited” girl overflowing with love for a firefighter and failing to say no. Tickets are available at €18-€29.
For those who are into opera on Friday 20 January, at 8 pm (gala), Sunday 22 January, at 3 pm Opéra de Monte-Carlo – Salle Garnier will present “Manon” by Jules Massenet with Sonya Yoncheva Charlotte Despaux and others, the Chorus of the Monte-Carlo Opera and the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Alain Guingal, organized by the Monte-Carlo Opera. Unfortunately it is already sold out, but if you followed our Calendar and bought tickets in advance, you’ll have a wonderful evening filled with brilliant music.
And the last but not the least we want you the 85th Monte-Carlo Automobile Rally that will finish this Sunday. The final day of the event will be the mountains above Monaco but then the vehicles will return to the Principality for the prize giving ceremony from 3 pm at the Place du Palais.
And don’t forget about the open-air skating rink in Port de Monaco which is still open.
