On Saturday you simply must see the start of the Carnaval season on Côte d’Azur. You can start in Menton, the city inseparable with lemons! Not only is this fragrant fruit cultivated in the city, but the annual festival featuring giant lemon and orange sculptures seems to bring them to life.
The 90th Lemon Festival in Menton traditionally hosts fruit parades, light shows, street animations and fairs. Its 2024 theme is “From Olympia to Menton”. The Lemon Festival was recognized by the Ministry of Culture and included in the inventory of intangible cultural heritage in France in 2019. This year it is held from February 17 to March 3, 2024.
The “Fête du Citron®” (Lemon Festival), attracts more than 200,000 visitors every year. For more than 15 days, you can enjoy the zest-flavored of Golden parades and Night-time parades(parades of citrus floats and animated by groups), admire the Exhibition of citrus patterns in the gardens Biovès; not forgetting to visit the Crafts Fair and the Festival of Orchids with unforgettable scents.
Then Nice. For over 150 years the arrival of spring in Nice is unimaginable without its traditional carnival and flower parades. Its 2024 theme is “the King of Pop Culture” with the most colourful scenery, huge inflatable sculptures, live music and tons of confetti. Are you ready to take part in its fragrant battle of flowers? …. or enjoy a scenic night corso parade? Then head to the Masséna Square in Nice and get ready for tons of fun from February 17 to March 4, 2024!
Football fans will enjoy the game of French Ligue 1 Football Championship: AS Monaco – Toulouse FC on Sunday 18 February 2024 at 3 pm, on Stade Louis II.
And for music lovers there is a “Piano Recital” of the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra with Dezso Ránki scheduled for Sunday 18 February 2024, at 6 pm in Auditorium Rainier III. On the program music by HAYDN, SCHUBERT, and DEBUSSY.
Among many interesting exhibitions that are held in Monaco these days you can take a look at The Monaco Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology that celebrates the vision of the current museum’s founder, Prince Rainier III with the exhibition: “A Prince, a Museum” held from Friday 15 December 2023 to Friday 5 April 2024, from 9 am to 6 pm.
Step into the history of the creation of the second Museum – a site museum! – in the heart of the Exotic Garden, just a few yards from the Observatory Cave. Learn about the numerous archaeological digs carried out during the Prince’s reign, and the unprecedented donations made by the Prince and Princess Grace Kelly. Explore different spaces on a variety of themes, from promotion of the Monegasque language to the holiday camps planned by the Museum’s then Director, Louis Barral.
