@www.printempsdesarts.mc

Le Printemps des Arts (Spring Arts Festival) continues with Family Concert on Saturday 5 April 2025, at 3 pm in Opéra Garnier Monte-Carlo.

This musical tale follows a boy named Noah as he embarks on a quest to find Santa Claus. Featuring music by composers including Rossini and Ligeti, the concert for all the family will keep children entertained even as it inspires them to dream and learn, accompanied by the five wind instruments of the Altra Quintet, narrator Marion Fontana, and beautiful illustrations by Emma Bertin.

It is followed by “Opera on Film” screening on Sunday 6 April 2025, at 11 am in the Cinéma des Beaux-Arts.

This recording made at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence in 2007 features an iconic staging of the Leós Janáček masterpiece by Patrice Chéreau, with music conducted by the one and only Pierre Boulez. The result is a unique example of music and theatre’s ability to complement one another to powerful effect, demonstrated by two giants of the operatic art.

And then you can finish with “Ravel & Messiaen” concert on Sunday 6 April 2025, at 5 pm in Opéra Garnier Monte-Carlo.

The 2025 Printemps des Arts will conclude – but not end – with two works that aspire to timelessness, Maurice Ravel’s Trio and the dizzying Quatuor pour la fin du Temps by Olivier Messiaen. For this climax of a Festival dedicated to Pierre Boulez, the youthful talents of the Trio Pantoum and Ann Lepage will remind the audience that the conductor and composer’s greatest wish was to pass on the flame to the next generation.

Among other interesting exhibitions there is one by the Portuguese artist Francisco Tropa, specially conceived for the Villa Paloma and featuring a previously unseen selection of sculptures, drawings, films and light projections.

The exhibition takes its names from pietre paesine (imaged stones), whose geological designs are evocative of painted landscapes, on the boundary of figuration and abstraction. This idea of an analogy between nature and technique is at the heart of Francisco Tropa’s work, which focuses on the conditions of appearance and perception of an image.

@www.nmnm.mc

Exhibition: “Agora, the Place of the Museum” is now open at Nouveau Musée National de Monaco – Villa Sauber.

Back in 2015, the NMNM debited its first ever LAB giving visitors a glimpse “behind the scenes of the museum”. Then in 2018, five guest artists were invited to produce their own musings on the very meaning of the museum itself. In 2025, as the Villa Sauber prepares to undergo a radical transformation, the NMNM is giving pride of place to its public-facing programmes, where the focus is on artists and promoting a wider sharing of art appreciation.

Of course there are other interesting events taking place in Monaco. If you want to learn more about them visit our Calendar.

So have fun and enjoy your weekend!
