Fine Dining in Monaco Restaurants: Maison Fonfon

Monaco is entering a high off-season, not only for the cultural and business agenda, but also for haute cuisine. New names, new restaurants and new professionals are entering the scene. Today we continue our overview of the restaurants that we suggest you visit.

 MAISON FONFON

Always springing surprises, Riccardo Giraudi returns to boost the port of Fontvieille with a new, French Riviera inspired concept: Maison Fonfon.

Facing majestic yachts, at the foot of the emblematic Rocher and behind a facade in soft colours embellished with olive and citrus trees, Maison Fonfon is a lively, festive, inspiring place redecorated by Cedric Capron. The white tablecloths are covered with plates with colourful stripes, the display cases are full of Mediterranean-inspired objects, and the mural is by Franck Lebraly, a renowned artist who draws inspiration from cubist and surrealist motifs for his sketches. He also designed the logo of the house.

The menu evokes Provence, the Mediterranean, where the sun shines and the cicadas sing and where sharing cuisine is queen. We start, for example, with the “Picnic” served on a red gingham tablecloth. A selection of starters to share all together, including grilled peppers & fried garlic, pissaladière, eggplant caviar and sardines in oil. Alternatively zucchini fritters stuffed with goat cheese, artichoke salad with anchoiade & Parmesan shavings, warm prawns with lemon from Menton and small vegetables from Nice’s countryside stuffed with veal will make for perfect starters.

To follow, soft ricotta & truffle raviolini from Perrin, or penne with Pastis, a tender grenadin of milk-fed veal with Parmesan on a bed of tomato, a nice slice of Mediterranean tuna topped with taggiasche olives & lemon, etc… Beautiful delights, no less.

To end on a high note, and on a sweet note, the chef notably imagined a delicious and enchanting raw & vegan cheesecake with lemon & lime, an iced nougat with orange blossom, pine nuts and hazelnuts and a basket of fresh strawberries from Nice’s countryside with vanilla cream.

For lunch, the chef has imagined 4 sunny menus from 25€, all with a glass of wine included: “Bowl du Sud” with spelt, vegetables and tuna or chicken suprême, “Dolce Vita” with the starter of the day and signature pasta, “Pesce e Vino” with starter and fish of the day, and “Tagliata Riviera” with starter and beef tagliata with herb butter.

This new restaurant in the port of Fontvieille welcomes you every day for lunch & dinner.

Riccardo joined Giraudi Group in the early 2000s, alongside his father Erminio Giraudi. Founder of the group in the 1960s, Erminio distinguished himself above all in the import/export of meat, in particular Dutch veal and French beef. It was with the arrival of Riccardo that the group took two major turns: the import of exceptional meats and the creation of restaurants. It was by wanting to make people discover his incomparable meats that he opened the first Beefbar restaurant in Monaco. Today the brand has 11 restaurants in Monaco and around twenty around the world in festive and cosmopolitan cities such as Mykonos, Sao Paulo, Hong Kong, Paris and Mexico City.
