AIDS Prevention and control in the Principality’s schools

December the 1st is an International AIDS Day. Monaco schools hold various events as part their “Info-Aids” program.

For 8 years, thanks to a high-quality partnership between the Directorate of National Education, Youth and Sports, the Department of Social Affairs and Health and the Free Anonymous Screening Center, first and second year high school students of Lycée Albert 1er were offered interactive workshops and conferences dedicated to the prevention and fight against AIDS.

The medical and nursing staff of the Free Anonymous Screening Center provide an interactive course in the form of a round table particularly for the 2nd year students, held in small groups. This approach allows the young people to speak freely and establish a real dialogue, addressing the aspects related to the AIDS virus in all its diversity.

An update on the HIV-AIDS situation is also proposed to the 1st year high school students. They are briefed on the evolution of the pandemic, treatments that are out there, but also reminded about the need for their individual protection.

Today at 10:00 am the students from the Education Committee on Health and Citizenship,  Lycée Technique et Hôtelier of Monaco, are alsospreading quilts in tribute of AIDS victims.

On February 9-10, 2017, as a follow-up on the International AIDS Day, the Directorate of National Education, Youth and Sports, the Monegasque Red Cross and Fight Aids Monaco, will propose a renewed edition of their “ Zapping afternoons” to the graduate and first year students of Lycée Albert 1er andLycée Technique et Hôtelier of Monaco.

An interactive show, based on prevention spots, quizzes and television extracts, will provide students with the opportunity to learn and exchange about sexuality and AIDS.

Finally, students from the Secondary School of Technology and Hotel Management of Monaco will attend 6 “trendy breakfasts”between February and March 2017. These will be privileged moments of exchange between the young people and volunteers from Fights Aids Monaco Association.
