Women’s European Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship

The Monegasque Chess Federation is organizing the the Women’s European Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship, from January 10 to 12, 2025 at the Novotel Hotel. This event will bring together 119 competitors from 26 European countries, among the best players on the continent, and will be a key moment to highlight the growing role of women in the field of chess.
The competition will begin on January 10 with the Blitz Championship, followed by the Rapid Games Championship on January 11 and 12. Blitz games will be played at a time of 3 minutes plus 2 seconds per move, while Rapid Games will be played at 15 minutes plus 10 seconds per move.
The total prize pool of €46,500 is the highest ever offered for a women’s tournament of this type, with €15,200 for Blitz and €31,300 for Rapid Games. Furthermore, for the first time, the prize pool for a women’s Blitz and Rapid Games tournament will exceed that of the men’s open.
13 members of the Monte Carlo Chess Club will also be present.
