Libretto by Caterino Mazzolà, after Pietro Metastasio and based on Suetonius’ The Twelve Caesars.
First performed: Prague, Stavovské divadlo [Estates Theatre], 6 September 1791, to celebrate the coronation of Leopold II as King of Bohemia.
Part of the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra’s “Mozart in Monaco” program.
