“L’Assignation” (“The Summons”) in the Princesse Grace Theater

Princesse Grace Theater presents “L’Assignation” (“The Summons”) on Tuesday 20 December 2022, at 8 pm.

She bears a Russian first name, and her last name has a noble particle and the name of a great French moralist. But Tania de Montaigne is black, without capital letters. She confronts the creaking automatisms of racist prejudices. Jew, Muslim, White, Black… For each color, each religion, there would be a mechanism and archetypes, caricatures, polite condescensions, or xenophobic hints. Tania de Montaigne turns it into a show. With L’Assignation, she takes hypocrisies and the best-shared reflexes out of their shadows and comfort zones, to finally look the word Race in the face. And to laugh about it, too.
