Top Leisure Events

After eventful summer and autumn days in Monaco most of us dream to have a rest and to spend more time at home, among family. But there are so many interesting leisure events in winter also. First of all, it is the period of Christmas and New Year holidays, and though snow in Monaco is rather an anomaly, be sure to experience the genuine festive, even magic atmosphere in the Principality. The legendary Hôtel de Paris is once again celebrating the holidays in style with a fabulous Christmas village located in the hotel’s inner patio and surrounded by fir trees. From December 6th to January 6th, five artisan greenhouses will be installed there, holding master classes for children and adults, with a lovely bar serving you drinks. On December 12th, 2019 the «village» will be hosting a fun and sparkling «Bubble Party».

«The Monkey King» (Le Roi des Singes) show by Phénix Circus

December 7–8, 2019

The best international circus performance of 2018 is coming to the Principality! This epic, comic acrobatic show by the Phénix Circus, the «stars of the Beijing circus» in the Salle des Princes of the Grimaldi Forum will certainly enchant young and old alike. The show is inspired by the adventures of a cult character from Chinese literature, the Monkey King. This unique show is famous for great acting, brilliant acrobatics and the total absence of live animals.

«Action Innocence Monaco’s Christmas Trees» auction

The 15th edition of the «Action Innocence Monaco’s Christmas Trees» event will take place on December, 11 in one of the most emblematic Monegasque hotels, Hôtel de Paris. The elegant Christmas trees, real masterpieces, some of them decorated with crystals, chocolate and even gold, will become the lots of this unusually beautiful and unique auction. The money raised by the event will be used to support the programs of the Action Innocence Monaco association aimed at children’s internet security and the struggle against cyberbullying.

KIDS NITE

On December 13, 6pm, the Sporting Monte-Carlo and «Les Enfants de Frankie» Association are holding the 6th edition of KIDS NITE for the children. More than 500 guests are expected to attend its exciting show, a selection of workshops, dancing party and a gourmet dinner. All the profits will be directed to «Les Enfants de Frankie» charity projects. The event is held under the patronage of Princess Carolina of Hanover.

Christmas Ball

The 14th edition of the Christmas Ball (Bal de Noël) in Salle Empire of Hôtel de Paris will be held just before the start of the winter holidays, plunging the glamorous Principality into a truly festive atmosphere. Over the years, this themed event was inspired by different destinations and historical trends. This year, the guests will be introduced to the magical «Dolce Vita» inspired by Federico Fellini’s famous film. The gourmet dinner will be followed by a Sotheby’s auction, hosted by Victoria Silvstedt. All the funds will be directed to the Princess Charlene Foundation dealing with drowning prevention. LEGO BRICKLIVE CHRISTMAS MONACO

A unique interactive adventure for LEGO® fans, BRICKLIVE CHRISTMAS is coming to Monaco for the second time! The BRICKLIVE show hosted by the Grimaldi Forum is a thrilling experience, building LEGO bricks over the Christmas holidays. Its concept remains unchanged. These are theme workshops letting children and parents create games in their familiar LEGO universes (Friends, Star Wars, Duplo), dance competitions, car races etc. In addition, you can visit an exclusive exhibition of ready-made LEGO® works of art, buildings and animals inspired by the oceans this year.

The exhibition is open every day (except December 25 and January 1) from 10:00 to 18:00.

The «Coppél-i.A.» ballet by Jean-Christophe Maillot

Capping off 2019, the Monte-Carlo Ballets (Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo) are introducing you to a production of «Coppél-i.A.», a new creation by Jean-Christophe Maillot. The choreographer is appealing to his famous romantic repertoire, exploring the world of machines to question how artificial intelligence affects our society. Jean-Christophe Maillot thus takes us into the near future where two young lovers, Franz and Swanhilda, find carnal love at a time when society is calling for more progress, safety and hygiene. This fascinating ballet spectacle will be performed in the Grimaldi Forum.

The 44th annual International Circus Festival in Chapiteau Fontvieille will be stunning with its incredible attractions: acrobatic stunts, performances by world star circuses and fun tricks. This event, founded during the reign of Prince Rainier III, is traditionally crowned by the most prestigious circus award ceremony, the Golden Clown. According to tradition, the jury is chaired by Princess Stéphanie who is also the Festival’s president.

The 23rd Historic Monte-Carlo Rally22nd Monte-Carlo Historic Rally

January 29 – February 5, 2020

Organized by the Monaco Automobile Club, the Historic Monte-Carlo Rally 2020 will include cars featured solely in the Monte-Carlo Rally previous editions between 1911 and 1980. All the teams have chances of finishing with quite impressive results thanks to a choice of three average speeds to be complied to all throughout the race. This 23rd edition starts on January 29 for the participants racing from Athens (1715 km) and Glasgow (2142 km). On January 31, other teams will join in from Bad-Homburg (1257 km), Milan (1069 km), Barcelona (958 km), Reims (940 km) and Monte-Carlo (950 km) with a common destination of Buis-les-Baronniers. That’s where the much anticipated show will start from! The Gala and the Prize Giving will take place on the evening of February, 5 in the Salle des Étoiles of Monte-Carlo Sporting Club.

The Argentinian Tango Show «Tango Fire»

The «Spring of Arts» (Printemps des Arts) Festival

The 66th Rose Ball

First initiated in 1954, the Bal de la Rose has long earned a reputation of being one of the most important charity events in Monaco. This evening has always symbolized the arrival of spring, encouraging good deeds. All the funds raised over the gala evening are donated to Princess Grace Foundation’s charity projects. It is a must for celebrities, businessmen and statesmen from around the world. The Rose Ball, always attended by the Princely family, will take place in Salle des Étoiles of Monte-Carlo Sporting Club.
